Located on a tumultuous crater edge, this lodge is a one-of-a-kind safari lodge in Tanzania and truly one of the most special hotels in Tanzania. Inspired by the ‘Cradle of Mankind’ found at the nearby Olduvai Gorge, this lodge sits on a series of concurring arched stone walkways and timbered decks linking a major complex of sleeping, dining, bar and gathering places, all with walls embellished with stylised prehistoric cave paintings lit by flaming torches. A glowing fire sputters in the stone hearth, warming up the space with a welcome glow. Each room is also adorned with cave paintings, placed strategically and dreadfully along the crater rim, with every room featuring a rock-enclosed balcony looking over the enormous volcanic amphitheatre with absolutely no obstruction.
